Stakeholder Democracy Network is an International non-governmental organization that helps facilitate community development from a rights-based perspective. SDN operates in the Niger Delta where it is trying to help the communities affected by oil exploitation and the challenges of the resource curse.
SDN has five pillar issues that represent significant long-held grievances and acute problems that we are trying to resolve. These are Access to Energy, Democratisation, Environment, Resilient Communities and Resource Governance.
SDN is advertising for the following position to work in our Nigerian Office based in Port-Harcourt.

Job Title: Financial Accountant
Reporting To: Finance & Administration Manager
Direct Reports: Finance Officer, Finance Assistant
Job Purpose: To create, implement and maintain strong financial systems, processes and controls for the Nigeria organization to ensure accurate and transparent record keeping and transaction processing. This role will require the individual to take responsibility for all financial operations and lead on the company auditing requirement. The role will have a strong emphasis on setting and following robust processes and controls with a commitment to integrity, transparency, learning and continuous improvement.

Key Areas of Responsibility:
1. Systems, Processes and Controls 30%
2. Financial Operations 30%
3. Financial Review and Performance 20%
4. External and Internal Audit 20%

1. Minimum education of a degree plus partial qualification of ICAN or other relevant finance qualification.
2. Spoken and written fluency in English with strong communication skills
3. At least 5 years of professional experience, ideally 3+ years of broad financial accounting and operations experience
4. Experience of working in team and managing and developing staff
5. Experience of delivering financial transactions through strong internal processes and controls
6. Experience of maintaining a controlled environment through following policies, processes and internal controls
7. Experience in financial reporting, audit coordination and liaising with regulatory bodies (eg tax)
8. Experience of managing funds request, disbursements, retirement and managing cash operations
9. Experience of managing an accounting system and maintaining transparent and appropriate transaction processing
10.Ideally a track record in NGO financial accounting
11.Strong IT skills with Microsoft packages and a recognized accounting software package (ideally Quickbooks)
12.Commitment to instilling a culture of integrity, transparency, learning and continuous improvement

Mai-Karfi - Making rural markets work for the poor

Propcom Mai-Karfi is a six-year project which works to improve the livelihoods of Nigeria's rural poor through targeted market initiatives. Propcom Mai-Karfi aims to increase the incomes of 650,000 poor Nigerians by enhancing employment opportunities and improving productivity in selected agricultural and rural markets in Northern Nigeria. The first phase of Propcom Mai-Karfi runs through March 2018 and will subsequently move into a three-year extension phase with a particular focus on the North East and the DFID partner states. Propcom Mai-Karfi is managed by Palladium for the UK Department for International Development.
The Programme seeks high-performing, result-oriented professionals who have a particular interest in market systems development and agriculture, and experience working in Northern Nigeria, particularly the North East, to fill the following position and join its dynamic team:

Finance and Administrative Manager
The Finance and Administrative Manager oversees the effective running of the administrative and financial functions of Propcom Mai-Karfi including working with the operations team to ensure compliance with financial procedures and controls and providing information to the Director of Operations and Team Leader for decisions on the allocation of resources. The role holder will oversee (from a financial perspective) the Facilitation and Grants Fund working directly with the Senior Finance Manager, the Contracts and Compliance Coordinator and the technical team to ensure that proper contracting procedures are followed as well as helping to monitor the agreement.
